Japanese electronics manufacturer Toshiba announced an increase in redundancy programs by 30%, due to the mass sale of assets. It is reported by business publication Nikkei.

Toshiba initially intended to eliminate about 10,840 workstations worldwide. However, in reality, 14,450 people were laid off: 8430 - 6020, and in Japan - in other countries.

Approximately 25% of laid-off employees left the company as part of the program for early retirement, which could benefit under the age of 40 years, employees who have worked in the Toshiba is not less than 10 years.

The largest reduction - 7610 people - occurred in the division Toshiba Lifestyle Products & Services (among other things, engaged in the production of consumer electronics and computers). In the semiconductor companies of 4590 employees were laid off.
